Regent Phu Quoc Review: Is It Worth the Splurge? (2026)
Walking to my room on check-in day, I passed a giant “REGENT” sign staked into the beach, glowing against the sunset. That’s when it clicked why this place gets called the most luxurious resort on Phu Quoc.
Every single room here is called a “Suite” — even the base category — which tells you everything about how this place thinks of itself. Don’t let the name fool you when you’re comparing room types.
I’ve lived on Phu Quoc for 4+ years and stayed here twice — once in a terrace pool villa, once in an ocean view suite booked with IHG points. This review covers both stays: rooms, pools, dining, and how to book smart.

Location & First Impressions
Being on the west coast means you get Phu Quoc’s famous purple sunsets right from the property. It’s 15 minutes from the airport and 5 minutes from Sonasea Night Market (seafood BBQ, massage, nail salons) — handy for evenings out. The grounds are big enough that the path down to the beach is long and well-landscaped, good for a bike ride if you’re not in a rush.
⚠️ The west coast can get rough waves some days — stick to the shallow area close to shore if you’re swimming.

⚠️ With this many room types, there’s something for most budgets. Here are the two I’ve actually stayed in.
Room I stayed in #1 — 1-Bed Terrace Pool Villa (208 m²)
A living room, a kitchen with a 6-seat dining table (island counter, full fridge, oven, coffee maker, even a wine fridge), a bedroom, a bathroom with a tub, double sinks, and a separate shower, and a private pool — all connected. The pool runs along a glass wall from the living room to the bedroom, so you can walk straight from bed into the water.
My welcome card read “5011 · Landed Villas,” which I found charming — Regent numbers its villas as their own category, not just room numbers.
Room I stayed in #2 — Ocean View Suite King (78 m², booked with IHG points)
This is the only room category bookable with IHG points. I got a low floor, so the ocean was barely visible past the palm trees — but the balcony itself was spacious and well-furnished enough that it didn’t feel like a letdown.
Amenities across both rooms
- Free minibar — not a token mini-fridge, a full-size fridge stocked with alcohol, non-alcoholic drinks, chocolate, and snacks
- Bathroom amenities rotate (mine switched from Acqua di Parma to Perricone MD between stays)
- Indoor slippers + branded outdoor sandals + a rattan hat (the hat’s for sale only, not yours to keep)
- Free laundry and pressing, up to 3 items a day
- Regent’s own app handles room service, buggy requests, amenity requests, even purchases

Dining
Rice Market (breakfast) — Spacious room, generously spaced tables, and the outdoor seating is genuinely worth choosing. Buffet (Vietnamese, Western, Korean, Chinese, bakery, fruit, dessert) plus à la carte (avocado toast, Vietnamese-style bo ne steak, egg dishes). Staff walk you through the food stations and you get an assigned server — the service here is unusually thorough.
Ocean Club (dinner) — Book the 5:30 PM slot — that’s right when the sunset starts. It sits right by the pool, so the light reflects off the water while you eat. I ordered the beef burger and the aglio e olio; the aglio e olio was the standout.
Fu Bar — Cocktails run around 380,000 VND (roughly $15) each, not cheap, but the view in front of you makes it feel worth it.
Price & Booking
Nightly rates for the base Resort View Suite swing a lot by season — check the official site directly for your dates rather than trusting a number here.
⚠️ Some room types, including the Ocean View Suite, require a 2-night minimum booking. This is a standing policy, not a seasonal thing — worth knowing if you were planning just one night.
Some room categories (Ocean View Suite included) can also be booked with IHG points. IHG runs 80–100% bonus point-purchase promotions a few times a year — timing your points purchase around one of those makes the redemption a lot more efficient.
Honeymoon combo tip: JW Marriott for 2–3 nights + Regent for 2–3 nights. JW Marriott leans into activities and photo spots, Regent leans into pure, private relaxation — different enough that pairing them makes sense. (See my JW Marriott review.)
