Hi, I’m Yuri, the person behind Off The Map Asia.
I’m Korean, but I’ve been living in Phu Quoc, Vietnam for more than 5 years now. Most of my travel starts from here: island life in Vietnam, long train rides through China, mountain routes in Sichuan and Yunnan, and the kind of practical trips that don’t always show up in the usual “top 10 things to do” lists.
I started this site to share travel guides based on real experience, not copied itineraries.
That means the routes here are places I’ve actually walked, hotels I’ve actually stayed in, trains I’ve actually booked, and mistakes I’ve actually made along the way. If I recommend a route, a hotel area, or a travel tip, it’s because I’ve tried it myself or checked it carefully from the ground.
Before this English site, I ran a Korean-language travel blog covering Asia more broadly. Over time, I realized a lot of the information I was collecting — especially about places like Phu Quoc, Jiuzhaigou, Huanglong, Chengdu, and Sapa — could also help travelers outside Korea.
So Off The Map Asia is my attempt to make those notes useful for a wider audience.
